Uganda Coffee Traceability for EUDR: A New Era for Sustainable Arabica & Robusta

The European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), effective 1 January 2026, requires all Uganda coffee exports(both Arabica and Robusta) to be fully traceable and deforestation-free. As Uganda exports over 67% of its coffee to the EU, this milestone plays a key role in protecting global forests while ensuring strong market access for Ugandan coffee.

To comply with EUDR, Uganda’s Ministry of Agriculture has launched the National Coffee Data Warehouse (DWH)and authorized Traceability Access Platforms (TAPs) to track coffee from farm to importer.
Only encrypted farm IDs and coffee farm polygon data will be used—so farmer privacy remains protected.

✅ What This Means for the Coffee Supply Chain:

  • Verified farm-level geo-location for every coffee batch

  • End-to-end traceability — from farmer to buyer

  • Increased reliability and transparency

  • Stronger protection of Uganda’s forests and environment
